We can’t let hard work go to waste, says West Brom’s Foster

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has urged his teammates to not let their season tail off, as they prepare to welcome Arsenal to The Hawthorns on Saturday.

The Baggies have the chance to equal their highest-ever finish in the Premier League (eighth), but they go into the game after of two disappointing defeats against Crystal Palace and Everton.

It has allowed ninth-placed Stoke to close to within four points of them and Foster is determined to make sure that their good work from earlier in the campaign wasn’t all for nothing.

“It’s been a good season but we can’t let it go waste and go on holiday early doors,” Foster said.

“We’ve got ten games left now, we can’t let it go and turn into a damp squib. We’ve just got to keep it going.”

West Brom defeated Arsenal 2-1 in the same fixture last season and the Gunners head for the Midlands with the risk of missing out on Champions League qualification for the first time in 20 years.

“Obviously there’s a bit of pressure on their shoulders after what happened in their Champions League tie [against Bayern Munich],” Foster said.

“But you’re playing Arsenal, it’s like Everton, if they’ve got some individual players who are having a good day they can just tear you apart.

“We’ll go into it knowing they’ve got those sort of players but we’ll do what we’ll do, and that’s what we’ll focus on.”
