Fernandinho proud of Manchester City’s versatility
Versatility is a player’s best friend – that’s according to Manchester City star Fernandinho.
Traditionally a holding midfielder, Fernandinho has turned out at right-back, left-back and a more advanced midfield role for City this term.
The 31-year-old Brazilian has been comfortable in multiple positions since his junior days and believes that to find success, every squad needs players that can fulfil a variety of different responsibilities.

Fernandinho said: “I believe that it’s important to have players who can adapt to different positions because sometimes we have weeks, like the one we ended up without two wingers due to injury.
“When you have players that are capable to play in those positions, that makes things easier for the manager.
“He can build up the team with a lot more flexibility and it is important to have such players in your team.
“I knew about these qualities because when I was 15 years old, I experienced playing in several positions and I always did quite well. I can adapt well in those functions.
“For me it was not a surprise and I hope to always be available to help the best way I can, in different positions, if necessary.”
