Chelsea new boy Marcos Alonso insists his side are going to be even more difficult to beat as this season goes on, with the Blues now really clicking into gear in the Premier League.

After a 5-0 thumping of Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Antonio Conte’s side have now scored 16 unanswered Premier League goals – with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil the last man to breach their defences in the league back in September.

Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, and Victor Moses once again excelled for Chelsea against the Toffees, but Alonso also opened his account for his new club having signed in the summer from Fiorentina.

And the 25-year-old wing back believes if the Blues can keep up that kind of performance, not many sides will be able to block their path.

“We are playing great games – not just scoring goals, but also not conceding. This is the way we have to continue,” he said.

“It’s important to start games well and then we could keep control of the game.

“Overall we have to keep working as we are doing now because the team is playing very well and this is the way we have to follow.

“We have settled well in this system. We are all defending well, all the players are running and helping each other and I think that is the main thing.

“Even if we play four at the back, three at the back, if we all run like this and we all put this passion into the game, I think it’s going to be tough to beat.”

David Moyes has been much-maligned in his short spell as Sunderland manager but Victor Anichebe believes Saturday’s victory over Bournemouth could be a turning point.

Sunderland had failed to win a Premier League game in ten attempts since Moyes took over in the summer but it was 11th-time lucky as they downed the Cherries 2-1.

Dan Gosling opened the scoring for Bournemouth before Anichebe’s first league goal in 465 days levelled proceedings but Steven Pienaar was sent off for two yellow cards with half an hour left.

Yet the Black Cats improbably scored the winner despite their numerical disadvantage when Jermain Defoe kept his cool from the penalty spot after Adam Smith fouled Anichebe.

And the 28-year-old claims it is Moyes who deserves the plaudits for proving his critics wrong.

“Credit to the manager – he has a lot of pressure on him even though it’s us going out there on the pitch to play,” said Anichebe.

“He’s a really good manager but he needs time to put in what he wants us to do.

“You could see signs of that against Bournemouth – it was what we used to do back at Everton, press and show a lot of resilience.

“Hard work and digging deep is the most important thing. It’s the foundation of everything and that’s what he’s trying to instil into us.

“We’ve been putting in some good performances and a result has been coming. We got a little bit of luck that we haven’t had over the past few weeks and we got the three points.”

Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is loving his first season in the Premier League and insists the impact of Manchester City’s dedicated fans have had something to do with that.

Bravo was bought for £15.4million by new manager Pep Guardiola in the summer and immediately replaced Englishman Joe Hart as first choice stopper.

He was sent off against his former club Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this month but is happy with the reception he’s had at his new home.

“It’s a great league to play in, loads of successfully and talented players,” he said.

“All the teams are very level and also the fans are very passionate. They follow the team home and away.

“I feel very welcome in the city and I feel very good here.”

Manchester City drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough on Saturday meaning they have dropped six points in their last four home league games.

Marten de Roon scored an injury-time equaliser at the Etihad Stadium after Sergio Aguero had put the home side into the lead in the first half.

“There’s never an easy game, every game is tough,” Bravo added.

“We want to win every team, whether we play home and away, we have to keep working on that.”

Full-back Aaron Cresswell insists if you want to test where your fitness levels are, mark Jonathan Walters for 90 minuntes.

The 26-year-old played the full game for West Ham as he continues his return to full fitness after suffering a knee injury in pre-season.

And having come through unscathed he believes he is almost back to his best, even if Stoke’s Walters had proved a worthy test in the 1-1 draw.

“I feel good now,” he confirmed. “I was up against Jonny Walters, who is probably the most energetic player I’ve ever played against, as he’s constantly running and never gives up and credit to him.

“Me personally, I feel good and it’s just about getting back to fitness and I feel I am there.

“It was very frustrating and disappointing, with us getting the lead, but then conceding the goal in the manner that we did.

“I don’t think we were our usual selves. We managed to create enough chances to score the goals to win the game, but we didn’t manage to do that.”

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe insists the absence of Callum Wilson and Andrew Surman was certainly felt in their defeat to Sunderland.

Dan Gosling had given the Cherries an early lead before Victor Anichebe produced an unstoppable finish to draw the previously winless Sunderland level.

The Black Cats – who had Steven Pienaar sent off on the hour – rode their luck as Bournemouth piled on the pressure but Jermain Defoe’s penalty earned them an unlikely win.

And Howe, who saw his side hold 70 percent of possession and have 22 shots at goal, believes the win was there for the taking.

“Of course you will miss a player of Callum’s quality,” he said. “Andrew as well, he’s a key player for us and the control he gives us.

“They were both misses but that wasn’t the reason why we didn’t win, we have a good enough squad who still performed for the majority of the game.

“We had good passages of play but ultimately it wasn’t quite good enough.

“It was a hugely frustrating afternoon; we should have gone 2-0 ahead in the first-half as we had great opportunities.

“They couldn’t get out of their half and we couldn’t capitalise to get that killer touch we needed to win the game.”

After back to back defeats Howe admits a cutting edge in front of goal has certainly been an issue – although he knows it is something his side posses having put Hull to the sword earlier in the season.

“In the last two games we’ve had gilt-edged chances,” he added.

“We got six against Hull and look free scoring and full of confidence, to creating a hat full of chances and not finishing them off is disappointing.”

The upcoming international break could not have come at a worse time for Everton – that’s according to midfielder Tom Cleverley.

The Toffees have had a solid start to the Premier League season but suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at Chelsea on Saturday.

Eden Hazard notched a double as Marcos Alonso, Diego Costa and Pedro also found the net to temporarily move the Blues top of the table.

Everton will now have a fortnight to stew on the loss before seeking redemption against Swansea after the international period – a fact Cleverley admits is frustrating.

“In every aspect of the game, they were better than us,” Cleverley said. “We fully accept that we were beaten by the better team on the day.

“We have got to look at ourselves and have two weeks to sort it out, which is a shame because you like to put these things right quickly, rather than dwell on them.

“We are massively disappointed and we have got to give something back to our fans when we play Swansea after the international break.

“We don’t have many players who stay at home in these breaks so it’s not easy, but we’ve got to try to put this to the back of our minds and work hard.

“After the last season, we owe it to our fans to make Goodison Park a bit of a fortress. Hopefully that run can continue but we will have to put this defeat to the back of our minds as quickly as possible because it wasn’t good enough.”

Wilfried Zaha insists his game has vastly improved this season because he is thinking more on the pitch instead of relying on his natural game.

The winger was highly thought of when he broke through at Selhurst Park and his hot form in the Championship earned him a move to Manchester United.

But he failed to establish himself at Old Trafford and subsequently moved back to South London, where his form has not quiet reached its previous heights.

However, Zaha has become a key figure for manager Alan Pardew this season and the winger says his final delivery has become much better.

“I’m not rushing things as much this season, I’m trying to go for better quality over quantity, so when I’m crossing it in I’m trying to pick someone out instead of just whacking it in there hoping for the best,” he said.

“I think that’s what’s changed, I’m slowing down and trying to pick out people.”

Sean Dyche admits he had a ‘gut feeling’ to bring on Ashley Barnes before the striker scored the winner for Burnley in their 3-2 defeat of Crystal Palace.

Barnes came off the bench to clinch the win for the Clarets in the 94^th minute, his first goal since the 2014-15 campaign.

Dyche had three forwards to choose from when making his third and final substitution with just four minutes remaining on the clock, but claims he had a hunch when it came to sending Barnes onto the field.

“A lot was made of that two years ago, when we went with two strikers, but we want to be flexible in our thinking,” he said.

“Before the game, I am sure a lot of people were wondering why we were not playing Gray. But it is nothing to do with Andre and his performance levels or the player, it is to do with the team and what team can we put out to win games at this level.

“They all respect that and that is one of the key things I have with this group, there is a respect about it and an honestly and pride in what they do. And I thought that was on display this afternoon.

“So open minds to get the job done and I had a decision to make. I looked round and I have Patrick Bamford, Andre and Barnsey, and sometimes it is by design and sometimes by gut feel.

“And there was a bit of gut feel about it. It was set up and I thought ‘let’s go for it’ and I was really pleased that I did obviously.”

Jakob Haugaard has become the forgotten member of Stoke City’s goalkeeping quartet and the Danish shot stopper insists he only has himself to blame.

Haugaard was signed by Mark Hughes in 2015 to replace veteran Thomas Sorensen and put pressure on first choice Jack Butland.

His chance came last season when Butland injured his ankle while on international duty, but he failed to impress Hughes and was subsequently dropped when fellow back up Shay Given became available.

And with the Lee Grant joining in the summer, Haugaard is now at the back of the Stoke queue but he is determined to fight for his place and impress Hughes.

“I had a couple of games last season when Jack got injured, but it didn’t really work out as I wanted to. I was not performing well and the team was not performing well,” he said.

“It’s easy to say, but you have to show it and I can’t do that at the moment. They weren’t the best games for me personally and not for the team as well.

“That’s not how I want to be as a goalkeeper, but you have to take your chance when it comes and I didn’t.

“When you concede loads of goals and things are not working out for you of course you lose your confidence. But it’s a long time ago now and I am looking forward.

“Every day in training is great. I’ve got great goalkeepers next to me and a great goalkeeper coach as well, so I’m not complaining about anything at the moment, I’m just not playing, but I will keep doing my best.”

Tottenham Hotspur travel to bitter north London rivals Arsenal on Sunday without several of their key stars, but manager Mauricio Pochettino says playing for a draw has not crossed his mind.

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko completes his three-match ban, while defenders Toby Alderweireld and Ben Davies, as well as midfielders Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela, are all missing through injury.

Pochettino’s concerns are at least eased slightly by the return to fitness of striker Harry Kane after a ten-game absence.

Spurs have gone five games without scoring in open play and have failed to register a win since putting Manchester City to the sword on October 2.

But Argentinean boss Pochettino is unbeaten in north London derbies and is determined to steer Spurs to a first win at Emirates Stadium since November 2010.

“We are going to Arsenal to try to win the game, that is our mentality,” said Pochettino.

“It’s true that many players are out, but we are confident. We believe in ourselves.

“We want to cut the not-so positive run.

“The international break might help us to recover some players for the next months.

“The Premier League is tough, so is the Champions League. But we like to play the big games.”
