Captain Kane promises more from Spurs
Stand-in skipper Harry Kane insists there is more to come from Tottenham after they got a first win of the season under their belts at home to Crystal Palace.
Victor Wanyama’s first goal for Spurs was the difference in the 1-0 win as Mauricio Pochettino’s side improved on last season’s start to the campaign where they failed to win any of their first four matches.
Kane has taken over the captain’s armband in the absence of French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who is out for a month with a hamstring injury, and started alongside Vincent Janssen for the first time.
And he admitted it was great to get off the mark with a win as Spurs try to keep pace with their title rivals.

He said: “It feels great to win. Last season we didn’t win for the first four games so it’s important that we’ve started winning earlier this season. We don’t want to fall too far behind the teams at the top so we’re delighted with the victory.
“It’s always an honour to captain the side and to win makes it that little bit more special as well. Of course, Hugo is the main captain, I’m sure he’ll be fighting to get back as soon as possible but it’s an honour to do it and I’m happy to do it whenever Hugo isn’t fit.
“I thought we played very well together (with Janssen), we created a lot of chances and on another day we could have both had a couple of goals so it’s an exciting partnership. I’m sure you’ll see more of it this season and we’re looking forward to it.”
