City newbie Moreno confident of challenging Aguero
Sergio Aguero would be forgiven for feeling old up against the newest addition to Manchester City’s strikeforce – and confident rookie Marlos Moreno believes he can eventually challenge the Argentinean for his position after signing on a five-year deal.
The versatile Colombian signed from his native Atletico Nacional for £4.5m, and while he can operate as a winger or a No.10, it’s the centre-forward role which the 19-year-old is eyeing up.
But before he gets a chance to operate under Pep Guardiola – a man he considers one of the world’s best – Moreno will spend a year with Deportivo La Coruna prior to battling Aguero, Nolito, Raheem Sterling and fellow teenager Kelechi Iheanacho for an Etihad Stadium front spot.

“I prefer being the centre forward, I’ve had the chance to play as a No.9 with Nacional and also with my previous teams,” he said. “I was top-scorer in their youth set-up for a couple of years, so I very much like playing there.
“My game is based on speed and skill, and I think one-on-one situations are my strong point.
“Manchester City is one of the best clubs in the world. It will be nice to experience being part of such a big club.
“Pep is one of the best managers in the world. I think he likes young players very much and he can improve them tactically and technically. It will be great to work with him and to be part of a great team.”
