Foster expecting goals aplenty from Baggies
West Bromwich Albion stopper Ben Foster is still confident striker Salomon Rondon will be more than a handful for Premier League defences this season, despite drawing a blank against Everton at the weekend.
The Baggies went down 2-1 despite taking the lead through Gareth McAuley’s early header, as Kevin Mirallas and Gareth Barry netted for the Toffees.
Foster himself almost came up with a remarkable equaliser as he went up for a corner in the dying seconds, but his snap shot went wide of the target.
But the 33-year-old England international could see the positives despite defeat, as West Brom created more than their fair share of opportunities throughout the contest.
“I think you saw again how hard Salomon works, he’s just so big and strong up there. He’s going to cause everyone a lot of trouble this season,” he said.
“It was a fairly even game and neither team deserved to come away losing it. We were a bit unlucky.
“There were chances at either end and maybe we were a bit unlucky that we just didn’t get the odd nice bobble here and there.
“We probably didn’t finish our chances as well as we could and should have, but fair play to Everton, they’re a decent team and they’ll do well this season.”
