Injured Maguire to miss start of season
Harry Maguire’s potential move to Middlesbrough has hit a snag with Hull City revealing he will miss the start of the new season due to injury.
The defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Riverside Stadium this summer, and the Tigers have reportedly turned down a £5m bid.
Maguire is currently out with an ankle injury and has not travelled with the rest of the squad to Austria as he continues to work on the problem ahead of Hull’s return to the top flight.
“Harry is going to be out for a little longer,” caretaker boss Mike Phelan said after Hull’s 3-1 win over Caykur Rizespor last night.

“His rehab is taking place back in England but it’s not going to be rushed. It’s just a pity because we wanted him back firing for the season.
“He’s a valuable member of the squad and the team. He’s not played a lot of football here at Hull.
“I don’t know what the situation is with him but at the moment it doesn’t really matter because he’s injured.”
Hull will be desperate to have the 23-year-old back and firing soon, as they enter the Premier League season on the back foot after manager Steve Bruce resigned last month.
Hull host defending champions Leicester City on the opening day next week.
