No rush to bring in Ash for Toffees
Everton will make sure Ashley Williams is fully up to speed before handing him his debut as they count on him for the long-term.
Williams joined from Swansea as a replacement for John Stones following a brilliant Euro 2016 campaign with Wales, but did not feature in the opening game of the season against Tottenham last Saturday.
He could make his Toffees bow at West Bromwich Albion this weekend, however Everton assistant coach Erwin Koeman revealed that the club will not be taking any chances if he is not up to speed.
“We will have to see because he started training very late after the Euros. He needed his rest,” Koeman said.
“But he is experienced and knows everything about the Premier League, so we will see what happens this weekend.
“You saw that a lot of players who were at the Euros did not start the first game of the Premier League season. It’s very tough for them because they needed a little rest.
“You cannot put a player straight into a game after a holiday because then he will get injured. That’s not what we need.”

Meanwhile Everton could also include fellow newcomer Yannick Bolasie who completed his move from Crystal Palace this week.
The winger is in line for his debut and Koeman expects the Congolese international’s direct style to be a hit at Goodison Park.
He added: “Yannick is a very good player, a strong player. He’s a runner who can make goals. We need that.
“Every year you need fresh people in the squad and it makes other players more sharp.
“From what I have seen, he has enjoyed training and he’s enjoying playing football. He has to show [his ability], of course, but I am confident of that.
“He has shown these last few years that he is a good player – he likes to work, he likes to run and has individual qualities.”
