Nyom taking time to adapt to Watford’s new formation
Watford defender Allan Nyom admits it hasn’t been easy adapting to new head coach Walter Mazzarri’s preferred 3-5-2 formation and says there is more to come from him this season.
The Cameroonian, who signed from Udinese last summer, looks set to be part of Mazzarri’s plans after signing a four-year contract last week.
Nyom, who is a right-back normally, has been asked to play on the right-hand side of a back three in pre-season and says it has been a tough transition for the Hornets.
“We play in a new shape and we have to adapt,” he said. “We have worked hard over the last two months on this and I think it’s going to be good.

“It’s a new position so it’s not easy, but I have to fight to try and do well and help the team to win games.”
The 29-year-old was a regular in his first season at Vicarage Road, but accepts there is also room for improvement personally ahead of his second season in the Premier League.
“Personally I gave everything I had [last season],” he said. “I know sometimes it wasn’t enough, but I’m happy because I played in a total of 36 games, with some good games and some not so good.
“I needed to adapt, but I think I did well in that and I think this year I can do better. I know the league and I speak better English – everything is better now.”
