Pep’s even making his mark in the bedroom!
It’s not just the football that has changed at Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne says Pep Guardiola has altered the players’ whole lifestyle – including where he wants them to sleep!
The former Barcelona manager has built up a reputation for overhauling a club from top to bottom in order to best prepare his players for an assault on the title.
Though it is standard practice for players to spend the night before matches with their team-mates in a hotel, Guardiola has even rewritten that rule.
“I slept at home. I haven’t done that since my time at Genk,” De Bruyne said of the opening weekend of the season.

Guardiola’s desire for marginal gains has also stretched to the players’ diets.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are now all eaten at the Etihad Campus, allowing the Spaniard to impose tailored nutrition plans upon each and every squad member.
“He is strict on food. We are obliged to eat at the club in the morning and evening, but it makes it easy – less cooking for yourself,” De Bruyne added.
“At the beginning the difference will be great, but once the season gets going, it will be just as usual.”
