‘Positively crazy’ Klopp the man for Can
He may have a manager who he describes as ‘positively crazy’, but Emre Can believes Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s trust in him is helping the German to get better and better.
The midfielder endured a quiet start to his Premier League tenure both on and off the pitch, but the subsequent two years have seen Can come out of his shell – a fact the Reds are now looking to profit on.
And the 22-year-old believes that’s in no small part due to the influence of Klopp, almost ten months into his Anfield occupancy, with some feeling Can is now ready to take his place as the leader of Liverpool’s midfield.
“I have a very good relationship with the manager, everybody knows that. He is a very, very good manager and I learn a lot. Every day I learn something new from him,” said Can.
“For me, it’s very important to have the trust of the manager, and I have his trust. That’s why I can always show my best.”

Can netted just once for Liverpool in the Premier League last season – the third in a 6-0 hammering of Aston Villa, at Villa Park.
It’s a tally Can, who also scored a solitary goal in the previous campaign too, is looking to address, with Klopp’s influence and mindset helping him to reach those goals.
“I want to be better than last season and I want to score more, that’s one target for me. I want to play well,” he added.
“But, of course, he is always smiling off the pitch. I like this kind of presence. It’s always good to have that close to you. That kind of presence can affect you.
“That’s the manager – I always say he’s a little bit ‘positive crazy’. Off the pitch he is a very good guy, everybody knows that he is very close to us.”
