Vorm ready to step up for Spurs

Few in the blue and white half of north London will have been cheered by the news Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris is set for a month on the sidelines, but Michel Vorm says he is ready to fill the sizeable void.

With manager Mauricio Pochettino such a stickler for strength and conditioning you can count on one hand the number of major injuries suffered by Spurs players during his tenure.

It has meant Vorm, signed for £5million from Swansea two years ago, has made just six Premier League appearances for Spurs, such has been the form and continued fitness of Lloris.

But the France No1 suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of Spurs’ season opener against Everton and is now set for four weeks out of the firing line.

It will mean a rare extended run in the team for Vorm and the 32-year-old insists he is up for the task.

“These are the moments that I have to be ready for and I don’t get fazed by it with the experience that I have,” said Vorm, who has won 15 caps for Holland.

“You always have to keep in mind that something might happen, it hasn’t in the last few seasons, it did against Everton. You can see again that something can change in a minute.

“It always strange when you have to come on in these circumstances, but if you can make an impact in a positive result then happy days.”
