Wanyama has secret recipe against old boss Ron

If Tottenham Hotspur want the inside track about Saturday’s opponents Everton then they need look no further than new boy Victor Wanyama for what to expect.

Signed from Southampton in the summer, Wanyama played under new Toffees boss Ronald Koeman last term.

And with Spurs aiming for a strong start to their Premier League campaign at Goodison Park, Wanyama has warned that Koeman’s team will be tough to break down.

“I know that Ronald Koeman likes his teams to play good football and he will maybe try to put players behind the ball as well to make it difficult for us,” said Wanyama.

“He knows that he has to get a good result because he wants to start well but for us, we want to start well too and I think it’s going to be a difficult game.

“We know Everton are a good side but we are determined to start the season well and everyone is looking forward to going to Goodison on Saturday and hopefully making a good start.”

Koeman is not the only familiar face Wanyama will be trying to best, with ex-Saints keeper Maarten Stekelenburg set to start in goal for the Toffees.

Wanyama added: “I’ve known him for a while now and he’s a great goalkeeper. We trained together last season at Southampton and I think he’s going to do well at Everton. For us, though, we are only interested in getting a positive result.”
