Fernandinho: De Bruyne makes Manchester City tick

Kevin De Bruyne has started the season in sterling form for Manchester City and Fernandinho admits it is a pleasure to play alongside the Belgian.

De Bruyne has provided a creative spark for City with a string of assists, in addition to finding the net himself in victories over Manchester United and Bournemouth.

The Citizens have started both their Premier League and Champions League campaigns in impressive fashion under Pep Guardiola this term.

And fellow midfielder Fernandinho claims it is De Bruyne that makes things tick at the Eithad Stadium.

“Kevin is a very good player, a very intelligent player,” said Fernandinho.

“When he has the ball he thinks so quickly and he makes the decision so fast that it’s hard for the opponent to react.

“For me it’s special because playing alongside him is very nice. He has decided most of our last few games by making assists or scoring goals. I hope he can keep this level to help us to reach our targets.”

Guardiola has only enhanced the reputation he earned at Barcelona and Bayern Munich as one of the best managers in the world since joining City over the summer.

And Fernandinho insists it is the Spaniard’s attention to detail and communication that makes him an ideal boss to work under.

“It’s easy to understand him during the game because he prepares us for the game very, very well,” explained the Brazilian.

“The time we have to prepare for the games is very short, but he’ll show us the slides, we’ll go to the pitch, we know exactly what we have to do.

“When he’s on the touchline he’ll give us some information to change our position or to change something we have to do.

“It’s easy to change positions like that because we work every day. We work very hard. We know exactly what we have to do on the pitch.”
