Grant delighted with Stoke chance
Lee Grant admits he was thrilled to be swept up in the drama of transfer deadline day after completing a loan move to Stoke City from Derby County.
The Potters had a busy window as they snapped up Wilfried Bony, Grant and Dutch defender Bruno Martins Indi on deadline day, along with midfielder Joe Allen and winger Ramadan Sobhi earlier this summer.
Goalkeeper Grant arrived from Pride Park to provide additional cover for the injured Jack Butland until January, although he admits he was not expecting the move in the days leading up to yesterday’s deal.
“Deadline day is interesting, especially from a players point of view because one minute it can be all quiet and normal, and the next minute you are moving to a new club,” he said.

“It’s been an important one for the club with some big name players coming through the doors, so to be part of that really is fantastic.”
Veteran keeper Shay Given started the season as the Potters No1 in the absence of Butland, who has not featured for the club since fracturing his ankle last season.
The 23-year-old hurt the ankle again in pre-season so the Potters moved swiftly to snap up Grant – who played with the England international at Derby.
“It is quite ironic really because Jack came over to our place to cover for me when I was injured not so long ago,” he said.
“I have obviously come the other way now, whilst he has been injured. It is really funny how football works at times.”
