Growing Bournemouth’s profile important to Howe

Developing AFC Bournemouth’s profile is one of his main responsibilities according to manager Eddie Howe following his appearance in the BBC’s Premier League Show.

Howe, one of seven of the league’s British managers, had an in-depth interview with his idol Gary Linekar in the show which was broadcast on Thursday night.

The 38-year-old led Bournemouth to the Premier League for the first time in their history in 2015 and recorded 11 league wins last year to help them to a respectable 16th-place finish.

Howe said he enjoyed doing the TV show as it was a different aspect of his managerial work and one he feels is massively important if he’s to succeed in boosting the club’s reputation around the globe.

“It was nice, it was a nice change. Press conferences are lovely but they are not intimate because it’s not one-on-one,” he said.

“Gary was a bit of an idol for me when I was growing up so it was really good to meet him.

“Promoting the club and building the club’s image and name is one of my big responsibilities.

“I think it’s important Bournemouth does build. Football is a huge industry around the world and we are still very much growing our club.”
