Henriksen keen to make Hull move permanent
He was part of Hull City’s last-gasp deadline day transfer splurge but Markus Henriksen is determined to show he was no panic buy.
The Norway international has joined on loan from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, but Henriksen is now desperate to make his move permanent by scoring the goals to keep Hull in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder knows he must hit the ground running if he is to add some much-needed impetus into Hull’s threadbare Premier League squad.
And after enjoying his first taste of life in Yorkshire, Henriksen is delighted to finally get started this weekend in a Hull City shirt.
“I’m excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started and to play in the Premier League,” said Henriksen.
“I’ve enjoyed my first training sessions here and I think this group of players and staff is amazing.
“I’m very excited to be joining a Premier League club. I have dreamt about playing in the English Premier League since I was a boy so to be this close to getting that chance – I can’t wait.
“I had four good years with AZ in Holland during which I developed a lot, and I feel ready to take the next step in my career now.
“I really hoped that a club in England would show interest and when Hull came in, I was excited about it because I feel that this is a club where I can develop even more.
“It’s nice to come into, and learn about, a different culture and everybody I have met so far here has been very nice and polite.
“Adama Diomande, who I know very well from international football, had only positive things to say about Hull and that helped a lot when making the decision to come here. He said there is a good atmosphere amongst the players and the staff, and that sounded good.”
