Man City’s Sterling backed to be one of England’s best
Bacary Sagna believes the rejuvenated Raheem Sterling can become one of England’s top players following his strong start to the season.
Sergio Aguero may have scored twice on his Premier League return against Swansea City yesterday but it was the performance of Sterling which drew Sagna’s praise post match.
Sterling appears to have been given a new lease of life under new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after a disappointing end to last year and Euro 2016 campaign with England.
Sterling scored his fourth of the season against the Swans, with Sagna feeling that attribute is a huge bonus to a player who has still has plenty of room to improve.
“He’s been outstanding; he had a difficult last year because he had a lot of criticism,” Sagna said.

“It’s never easy and you have to remember he’s only 21 so he is going to improve a lot.
“I think he is going to be one of the best English players, he can score and that makes a big difference. He’s always been decisive but now he’s even scoring so it makes a massive difference to the game.
“He gives it his best and he’s responding well on the pitch. He’s proving he’s a great player and deserves to play for the team – he had a great game.”
