Rangel: Swansea must carry forward their Leicester late show

Angel Rangel wants Swansea to take the final 30 minutes they produced against reigning champions Leicester City before the international break and use it as a blueprint for the rest of the season.

After a tepid first half in Leicester, Swansea burst into life in the latter stages, but Leroy Fer’s goal ten minutes from time proved too little too late in a 2-1 defeat.

The Swans – who also suffered a disappointing home defeat to Hull last month – can ill-afford that type of inconsistency against a so-far unbeaten Chelsea in London this Sunday.

And Rangel says his side must race out of the blocks from the word go.

“In the last half hour we showed the real Swansea. We opened up, we tried to play from the back and created chances from the wings and in the end we nearly got a point,” said the right-back.

“We have to take the last 30 minutes into the next few games, starting against Chelsea.

“We had a dream start to the season getting the first win away from home (against Burnley) on the first day – that gave us a boost.

“But the next two league games were disappointing, especially at home against Hull. They are a team who we think will be in the same league as us, if you want to put it that way, but our performance wasn’t up there.

“We worked hard after that and approached Leicester knowing it would be tough. We felt we could get something out of the game but our performance in the first half cost us.”
