‘Leicester City will have to find a new balance to replace N’Golo Kante’

Leicester City’s Andy King admits there probably isn’t a direct replacement for N’Golo Kante out there and believes they have to discover a new balance to the team.

Kante was one of the Foxes’ key players in their magical march to the title last season, acting as an impenetrable shield in front of the’ back four.

The Frenchman was a revelation for the champions, seemingly covering every blade of grass and snuffing out countless opposition attacks during their unforgettable campaign.

That resulted in Chelsea paying around £30million to sign the France international this summer and the Foxes have struggled so far this season, sitting 12th in the table.

But his replacement, Daniel Amartey, has made a promising start in attempting to fill the Kante-shaped hole in the Leicester midfield, with the Ghanaian putting in excellent displays against Burnley and Porto in the Champions League.

His team-mates have been quick to recognise his efforts this season, with King, who Amartey is keeping out of the side, effusive in his praise of the 21-year-old.

King said: “Losing NG was always obviously going to be tough to fill; no-one else in the league probably plays like him.

“It is about trying to find the balance to try and replace him.

“That is obviously the manager’s job to try and find that, but Daniel has done really well and he is only young and still learning. He has a lot of potential as we can see.”
