Young Gunner Iwobi must keep his feet on the ground

Alex Iwobi has hit the ground running this season for Arsenal but manager Arsene Wenger has warned his young star that he has achieved nothing yet.

The 20-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch in midweek as the Gunners secured a 1-1 draw at the home of star-studded Paris Saint-Germain.

And the powerful winger backed up that showing with a stellar display on Saturday as Wenger’s side put four past Hull.

The Nigerian international set up the first two goals in the 4-1 win, taking his assist total to three for season – joint top of the Premier League charts.

But despite the plaudits, Wenger is desperate for his young charge to keep his feet on the ground.

“Yes, he had a good performance, and you want him to improve,” he said.

“He is 20 years old, and I think he has talent, he has ambition, he has a big passion for the game and until now he has humility. We have to take care that he keeps that quality, because it’s an important one.

“But he has gained confidence and power. I believe as well he has a good combination between quick passing, picking players out and running with the ball. He gets that balance right, until now, and that’s not easy.”
