Howe buoyed by Bournemouth’s resilience
Bournemouth may have notched up six goals in a Premier League game for the first time in their history on Saturday, but manager Eddie Howe was not impressed only with his side’s ability to hit the net.
Hull City were vanquished 6-1, but briefly drew level on 34 minutes when Ryan Mason latched onto Steve Cook’s poor pass to thump the ball past Artur Boruc.
And Howe admits he was happier with how the Cherries bounced back from that setback to seal all three points in style.
“I always say when we make mistakes that we do so together,” he said.
“Especially when we make mistakes passing out from the back or building from deep positions, I always say that I take responsibility because that’s how I ask them to play.
“I never look to crucify an individual for making a mistake when they were trying to do the right thing.
“The most pleasing thing today, despite scoring a number of goals and playing very well, was the ability to bounce back after conceding the first goal.
“The players didn’t let that disappointment linger. They went and scored some good goals before half time and that two-goal cushion was very, very important.”
