Hull City boss Phelan drives into a spot of bother
Mike Phelan might be permanent manager of Hull City but he has found not everything comes easy when you are at the top.
With Steve Bruce leaving before the Premier League got underway, Phelan took temporary charge and led Hull to the top four after three games.
That led to Phelan being handed the job full-time but he has found things trickier with Hull currently sitting 16th after a shellacking by Bournemouth.
And Phelan also found things weren’t all rosy at the training ground on his first day as permanent boss.
”I’m the leader of the gang now and was really looking forward to parking in the manager’s bay for the first time when I came to work that morning,” Phelan said.
“But when I turned into the training ground there was a digger occupying the manager’s place.

“To add insult to injury, there was a van taking up the assistant manager’s bay where I’d become used to leaving my car when Steve was here.
“I only drive a mini, but there wasn’t even enough room for me to squeeze that in. I’ll be having another bash at claiming that parking space next week.”
