Mourinho trust crucial for Red Devils’ Fellaini

Marouane Fellaini admits it’s vital to have the trust of manager Jose Mourinho if he is to keep his place in the Manchester United starting line-up.

Fellaini has featured in eight of United’s 11 games so far this season – either starting or as a substitute – something the Belgian feels has given him a great deal of confidence.

And while a stuttering start to the season has seen the Red Devils slip to Premier League defeats to Watford and rivals Manchester City, the 28-year-old feels Mourinho’s impact is showing its signs of promise at Old Trafford.

“He’s obviously a very good manager who puts on good training sessions which are always different, and that’s important,” he said. “He knows what he wants and the levels are high, so he always wants to keep up the pressure. It’s good to work for him.

“He’s always working towards the objective: to win. That’s why we’re here. A club like Man United has to win.

“I work every day in training, I show myself, I think he trusts me. I will do everything I can on the pitch and always give my best, so he can trust me, and that is the most important thing: when the manager trusts you.

“We have a good squad, good players and competition is high and so that’s why you have to push yourself all the time.”
