Hull City’s Bruce shows mixed loyalty with Villa-friendly tweet

Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone took the opportunity to remind Alex Bruce where his loyalties should lie, after the son of Aston Villa boss Steve showed support for his dad’s new club.

Bruce junior tweeted in the wake of Villa’s 1-1 Championship draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night, with the defender showing sympathy for his dad’s new side as the Seagulls came from behind to take a share of the spoils.

The Tigers defender took to the social media platform, saying: “Very unlucky not to win that played very well!!”

But Huddlestone was having none of it, sarcastically retweeting his colleague’s thoughts with the comment “we play tomorrow”.

Bruce took the jibe in the spirit it was intended though, replying to the former Spurs midfielder with “well done mate, I was on about my 2nd team”.

And it wasn’t just the Tigers team that picked up on Bruce’s mixed loyalties, as one Villa responded with a hopeful tweet of his own.

“When you joining us Junior?” They said. Before another Villain jumped in, saying “see you in January.”

The comments may have been in jest but Bruce junior does have a history of following his father, having been signed by Hull when Steve was manager four years ago, and also teaming up with the former Manchester United defender in his days at Birmingham City.
