Zlatan: I will win the Premier League with Man United
There is not much that has eluded Zlatan Ibrahimovic in what has been a glittering career, but the striker admits the Premier League title has become his great white whale.
The 35-year-old is enjoying some time away from the pitch during the international break having retired from Sweden duty, but after only a few months in England he has become obsessed with claiming the Premier League crown.
Having ended a month-long scoring drought with two goals against Swansea – bringing up 400 career club goals in the process – Ibrahimovic is now confident the goals will start to flow again as they did at the start of this season.
But it is the competitiveness of the Premier League that has captivated the Swede, who believes if he were to lift the famous trophy there would not be much more for him in football.
“I have played at other massive clubs. Every club is massive and if it was not massive it became massive when I came,” he said.
“But I heard a lot of things about the city and now I have everything that I need and I am settled here. My family have everything that they need and if they are happy, I am happy.
“I have missed pretty good chances this season which I don’t see myself doing ever. But it is a different game here compared to before – there is no team controlling the game, it’s always back and forward.
“I’m happy with my performance, but I know I can do more and the team can do more. I want to do more and I will do more.
“It would be fantastic. If I could win the Premier League, the next day I would stop playing football…almost.
“We have been a little bit unlucky in certain games, but we believe and when you believe it will come. Hopefully I can win it and I will win it.”
