Huddlestone confident of Hull cup turnaround
Tom Huddlestone is hoping the pressure of expectation can cause Manchester United a headache when Hull meet the Red Devils for their EFL Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday night.
Goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini gave United a comfortable 2-0 lead from the first leg, something Jose Mourinho’s men will be confident of defending at the KCOM Stadium.
But with few giving Hull a chance of overhauling the deficit on home soil, Huddlestone believes that can work in their favour, and the midfielder is hopeful of jangling a few nerves when the game heads into its closing stages.
“We have made history quite a few times at Hull in recent years,” he said. “Hopefully, we can do it again on Thursday evening.

“It will be difficult, but if we can get ahead and go into the last 10-15 minutes with a lead then all the pressure will be on them.
“They could get a bit nervy because they are the team expected to coast through to the final.
“Everyone has written us off, so the pressure is very much on them as well as ourselves.
“One goal can change a cup tie. 2-0 isn’t a secure lead even in a 90-minute match.
“Over two legs, it is still very much all to play for. We’re confident we can turn it around, especially after the way we played in the first leg.
“Obviously, with the game being at Old Trafford, they were always going to have a lot of the ball and that was the case.”
