Son enjoys extra special Spurs equaliser

Heung-Min Son knows that every Premier League goal is an achievement but even he admitted there was something extra special about grabbing a late equaliser against Manchester City.

The South Korean’s goal completed a remarkable Tottenham Hotspur comeback as Pep Guardiola’s side let a 2-0 lead slip at the Etihad Stadium.

Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne had given the home side the lead but after Dele Alli pulled one back Son completed the job to earn what could be a valuable point.

“It was so important after going 2-0 down to get back to 2-2,” he said. “We showed our character and mentality, which is so strong and I’m really happy for my team-mates.

“It was unbelievable (the feeling of scoring the equaliser) and the fans were unbelievable again, like always.

“Every time you score it’s a special moment but for me, we were 2-1 down and to draw 2-2 in Manchester City, this is a special memory for me.”

And while Son admitted that Spurs, who could be nine point behind leaders Chelsea by Sunday night, had not been at their best during much of their game, he was delighted to take points away from his title rivals.

He added: “That’s football, sometimes it’s really difficult and we can’t play well every week. We always try, but we’re people, not robots.

“We try to get to the high level but sometimes it’s just not working. We came back and this is the answer.”
