Boruc is buzzing at Bournemouth
Veteran goalkeeper Artur Boruc is determined to continue giving his all to the Bournemouth cause after securing his future at the club for next season.
The 37-year-old’s deal at the Vitality Stadium was due to expire at the end of the current campaign but having triggered an appearance clause in his contract, the former Poland international is now tied down until the end of 2017-18.
Boruc racked up his second clean sheet on the spin as Bournemouth beat Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday – a result that relegated the Black Cats – and the former Celtic stopper is looking forward to many more as his Bournemouth career looks set to stretch into a fourth season.
“I get used to the saves and I’m happy with the clean sheet,” said the Cherries keeper, who initially joined the club on loan from Southampton in September 2014 before making the move permanent eight months later.
“I’m happy that I could help the team. It’s nearly 20 years now that I’m doing this so it’s something you don’t lose with the years.
“It feels fantastic to have the new contract. I don’t know how it’s going to be next year but I’m really pleased because the gaffer [Eddie Howe] has trusted me and I’ll continue to stay here for another year.
“Now I’ve got to do everything to be the best that I can be.”
