City must still improve to secure third spot in league
They may have kept a clean sheet and rattled five past Crystal Palace at the weekend, but Willy Caballero still believes Manchester City can improve in their quest for third.
The Citizens are currently fourth in the Premier League, one point behind Liverpool but with a game in hand over the Merseysiders.
They are also the fourth highest scorers in the league, having netted 70 times, with Chelsea leading the way on 72.
And despite Saturday’s 5-0 hammering of Crystal Palace, Caballero knows his side still need to improve if they are to secure third spot, and the automatic Champions League qualification that comes with it.
“It may have been the perfect score, but there’s still room for improvement,” the replacement goalkeeper said after Saturday’s win.
“We’re not used to scoring that much. We created a lot of chances and we could finish those. We have to try and keep it that way.”
“Of course [finishing third is important]. Right now we’re in a very good position. The most important thing is we do our job well. We did today, but we must do it for three more [games].
“It’s always important to score, regardless of the moment, but Silva’s goal calmed us and we could play better – more relaxed.
“There’s going to be a lot of pressure in the last games of the season and after drawing the previous game, we needed a good win.”
