Manchester City young gun Adarabioyo sets his sights high
Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo says he has spoken to Pep Guardiola about first-team opportunities after penning a new deal with the club.
The 19-year-old signed up to four more years at City, a club he joined when he was just five.
Adarabioyo made his first Champions League appearance against Steaua Bucharest last season and played in the competition again against Celtic in December.
But European football is not enough for the young defender, who has very high hopes for his future at City.
He said: “Since I was a young kid, I’ve always dreamed of playing for the City first team and being captain of this club, so hopefully I can go on and do that.
“Seeing how the club has grown since days in the Academy at Platt Lane, to Carrington and now to the CFA (City Football Academy), it’s just wonderful and hopefully we can take that to the first team and win as many trophies as we can.
“It’s a very talented group of players, so I have to keep working hard and get as many games as I can, and when that opportunity comes, I have to take it.
“Vincent Kompany is a great leader – I look up to him.
“He tells me things to do in training sessions, so I try to replicate some parts of his game in mine.”
