Rodriguez: I’ll play anywhere for West Brom
West Brom’s latest signing Jay Rodriguez is ready to play wherever his new manager Tony Pulis wants him to after making the switch from St Mary’s.
The England international moved to the Hawthorns for £12million after an injury-hit five years at Southampton.
The former Burnley man had his most prolific season for Southampton when deployed on the left wing, where he bagged 17 goals in all competitions for the Saints.
But having also been deployed as a central striker, Rodriguez is just happy to be fit and playing once more.
He has been praised by his new boss Pulis for his versatility and the 27-year-old is ready to play in any position so long as he’s contributing to the team.
He said: “I want to be on the pitch, helping the team and wherever that may be I’m happy to do it.”
“As long as I’m working hard and improving on each game. I want to score goals and create chances and help the team in that way.
“I know about Tony Pulis, what he does, how he brings players on. Having spoken to him, I was really impressed. I just can’t wait to get started.
“As a player, you know it’s a short career and you want to maximise every game you play. You want to be develop and become the player you can become.”
