Borja hopes Swansea strike is first of many

Swansea record signing Borja hopes the floodgates have opened after he opened his account for his new club last weekend.

The former Atletico Madrid striker, who joined for £15.5million in the summer, slotted home his first goal in the Swans’ narrow 3-2 defeat to Arsenal.

With Bob Bradley now in charge of the Welsh Premier League club, Borja – also known as Baston – is hoping to impress his new boss.

Next up is the visit of Watford and Borja – who turned home Modou Barrow’s cross to set up a nervy finish at the Emirates Stadium – hopes his maiden strike was the first of many.

“I am really happy to have scored my first goal for Swansea in the Premier League,” he said. “It was a very good pass from

Modou, who did very well.

“It’s good for a striker’s confidence to get their first goal as soon as possible – now I hope this is the first of many goals for the club.

“Hopefully I have done enough to impress the manager and showed him what I can do for the team.

Bob Bradley

“It would be fantastic for me to play against Watford next week and hopefully score again to help the team win.

“The team worked hard against Arsenal and we created many chances, and that’s a good sign.

“We may have lost the game, but there many positives we can take from the game.”
