Fletcher excited by Baggies’ future
Captain Darren Fletcher has told West Bromwich Albion fans to expect a bright future under prospective new owner Guochuan Lai.
A deal was struck last week for 42-year-old Chinese entrepreneur Lai to purchase the club from Jeremy Peace, subject to approval from the Financial Conduct Authority and the Premier League.
This week he has been in the Black Country, taking a tour of the training ground and the Hawthorns, while he met with senior figures at the club including boss Tony Pulis and Fletcher.

And Lai certainly left a lasting impression on the former Manchester United midfielder, with Fletcher confident the club, who finished a relatively comfortable 14th last term in their sixth successive season of Premier League football, is set to go from strength to strength
“I was struck by how enthusiastic he was to meet everyone, all the players and all the staff – he has clearly got a real passion for the role he has taken on,” said Fletcher.
“I told him that the dressing room was full of a great group of lads who are really tight.
“We are ambitious too and want to take Albion forward and hopefully together with Mr Lai that is what we will do.”
